First off, I’d like to say what we aren’t. We are not home builders. We are not contractors. We are not realtors. We are not designers.

With that said, we are parents of three little kids, and are in the process of building a new home. Spring 2017, we found out that we were having a third baby (adding to our one year old boy and three year old girl). We had no plans on moving homes, let alone building one, but here we are.

We happened to find a lot with a condemned home on it, in an area of town that we really liked. We made an offer on it without any expectations of it being accepted. To our surprise, our offer was accepted! This was about two weeks before our third little baby arrived. By the end of the year we had a new baby, a new lot, and a house to build.

The new home was far from move-in-ready (our realtor actually went into the house with a full hazmat suit), so we soon made plans for the demolition of the old structure and building a new one. It’s been a fun process, but also a little stressful making decisions and balancing work, three young children and meeting with contractors.

Every house has a story, and what makes a house a home is the stories that are shared inside. A home is more than just a building, a home is made when the people who share a house create it’s story.
