A couple years ago we saw this house and always wondered…what’s going on with it?

Who owns it? Why has someone else not bought it?

We knew it was in a great location and a good neighborhood but buying a fixer upper seemed a little daunting and we weren’t sure if it was a project we wanted to undertake, but here we are.

Location! Location! Location!

We decided it was in a great location, as we looked around at other opportunities to purchase a lot in Eugene, Oregon; and decided there weren’t many opportunities like this, where we could build in an established neighborhood, close to shopping, parks and easy access to the highway.

So, about five months ago, we decided we would start to look into purchasing it. We discussed this with a realtor and she really went out of her way to find the owners and meet with them. They were possibly interested in selling, but it was not currently on the market.

After doing some research and looking into the cost of demo and building we decided to make an offer on the home. We did not know how much they were wanting to sell it for, so our offer was on the low end.

They declined our offer, as they were wanting more. Before making the plunge on purchasing it I wanted know what the exact cost to demo and build a new home. After doing more research, and getting bids on the work we decided to make another offer.
